Dil Chahta Hai
The Heart Wants It
By
Pankaj Sachdeva

Farhan Akhtar’s Dil Chahta Hai completes twenty years of its release on August 10th, 2001. It is one of my favorite films. I have been wanting to write an essay on it since 2015 but never got around to finishing it. But early this year, I decided to finish it and the essay became a book.
The book is free and is available for anyone who wants to read it. If you would like a physical copy of the book, please sign up below and I will send it to you for free. I cannot promise that I will send it to everyone as I only have a limited set of physical copies. Therefore, I am not asking for any physical address from you. I am only requesting an email. I will contact you if I can send the copy to you. I will definitely try my best to send it to all of those who signed up. If not, the book can be read on this website.

This book comes from a place of love, and it is an attempt to understand more about the film’s universe. I hope that you will read it as there is no greater satisfaction for an author than knowing that their work is being read. Do let me know if you liked it by commenting here or via email at pankaj.sva@gmail.com.

(P.S.—I apologize for the few typos as I am sure there are some as I have self-edited the book and one tends to miss out even while reading it again and again.)
